While we’d love to make it to every event out there, it’s simply not possible. Therefore, we welcome event wrap-ups from organizers to help folks out there find out about great options for future outings. Today’s is from the 5th Annual Ocean City Jeep Week. We invite all event organizers to submit their own wrap-up and photos!
Over 900 Jeeps Came, Saw and Crawled During the 5th Annual Ocean City Jeep Week, August 21-24
Over 900 Jeeps and more than 3,000 spectators came to the 4-day event. The week included beach crawls, a show and shine, a vendor alley and a signature event, Jeep Jam.
Ocean City, Md. – August 27, 2014: Ocean City Jeep Week, a premiere Jeep event on the East Coast featured a multitude of events including a Jeep Jam and Jeep Beach Crawl. Ocean City, Maryland’s Coastal Highway looked like the shoreline version of “M.A.S.H.” this past weekend when over 900 Jeeps rode into town for the biggest Jeep Week to date.
Ocean City Jeep Week opened Thursday, August 21 with a welcome party at Seacrets for all registered Jeep owners and their families. The event had light appetizers, drink specials, live music and raffles. Hand-selected Jeeps were on display in Seacrets’ parking lot and in the bar. Some of the Jeeps on display came from Wicked Jeeps, Poison Spyder, Adam’s X-treme Jeep and Jeep Week attendees.
By sunrise on Friday, August 22, Jeep Week was in full swing. The first of two Jeep Beach Crawls was underway around 7:30 a.m. 250 Jeeps began on the beach at 30th street and rode down to the inlet. They then headed to the Ocean City Convention Center for Jeep Week HQ. The Jeep Beach Crawl is a unique opportunity for registered Jeeps to drive a three mile course on Ocean City’s pristine beach that typically does not allow any drive-on opportunities
Friday afternoon and early evening was spent at Jeep Week HQ. The site had a multitude of events for both Ocean City Jeep Week participants and spectators. Highlights of Jeep Week HQ were: the Show & Shine, the obstacle course, vendors with huge discounts and giveaways and a live radio broadcast as well as a kid zone.
Saturday, August 23, began at sunrise with Jeeps lining up for the second Jeep Beach Crawl. Again Jeeps began at 30th street and rode down toward the inlet. Once off the beach, Jeeps could participate in a scavenger hunt around Ocean City or head straight to Jeep Jam. Jeep Jam offered registered Jeeps large obstacle courses, trail rides and mud pits. There was also live music, vendors, a kids’ zone, fireworks and food sold by the Showell Volunteer Fire Department. Spectators came to watch the Jeeps go through the different trails and stayed for the live music and fireworks. A few spectators even registered their Jeep that day to get in on the fun!
Sunday, August 24, was a final goodbye to all who came, saw and conquered Ocean City Jeep Week. The sendoff, held at Hooper’s Crab House, included coffee, light refreshments and a last chance to talk to other Jeepers.
Plans for 2015 are already underway. The dates will be August 20-23 and look for registration information to come out closer to Halloween.
