Team JPFreek is Taking on the Rebelle Rally
Julie M Covert and Jennifer Shea Peine have teamed up with JPFreek Adventure Magazine to do the Rebelle Rally this October.
The Rally
- 1,242 miles (2,000 km), all off-road
- 7 days – Lake Tahoe to San Diego
- No GPS
- Map & compass navigation only
- 60 teams
The Team
Julie and Jennifer are thrilled by the idea of spending seven days traveling off-road to get from Lake Tahoe to San Diego—a trip that normally takes nine hours on-road. The thought of navigating 1200 miles with only map and compass is undaunting. Camping under the stars and waking up with stiff limbs is nothing new to these veterans of the outdoors. Each woman has many hours behind the wheel of a Jeep and numerous off-road trips. And to add to this pair’s strong points, they both have experience wrenching on vehicles and getting grease under their nails.
They will be driving an ‘82 Jeep Scrambler that’s being been rebuilt from the ground up to easily navigate any terrain.
The Jeep
- 35” tires
- 4” suspension lift
- Rebuilt AMC 258 engine
- 4:1 twin-stick Dana 300
- Dana 44 axles w/ARB lockers
- Fiberglass body
- Full soft top
You Can Help!
To make the Rebelle Rally possible for Team JPFreek we need to outfit the Jeep completely and cover a number of expenses related to getting the Jeep to Tahoe and back. Team JPFreek has started a crowdfunding page to get what’s almost certain to be the oldest Jeep in the race to the Rebelle Rally!
