Generators have always been a thing I have frowned upon, simply due to the noise created as well as their weight and bulk. Engel has released the Element line of generators, powered by Honda engines which is a new and better option for your next backcountry excursion.
At first start up, I was expecting the generator to produce noise similar to that of my weed whacker. Wow, was I surprised! Very quiet and smooth running. The hype and everything I had read on overseas forums about the Element line was correct. While I was on a weekend camping trip, I had a few fellow campers come over to check out my camp and see the generator, and most were surprised
by the quietness and how compact the unit was.
I attempted to overload the SHX1000 and have it blow the circuit breaker but was unable to. The generator produced the amount of electricity needed and more. Running on “turtle” speed, I was able to run lights, power tools, and other items while also having a portable fridge plugged in. This little guy is truly electrifying.
