Looking for a comfortable, durable, and functional hiking shoe that won’t break the bank? Then check out the Juxt shoe from renowned boot company Vasque.
It’s been over 40 years since Vasque founder William D. Sweasy traveled to Europe admidst the hiking craze that was taking place at that time. Companies were forming and Sweasy’s trip was a catalyst in forming one of the most widely regarded shoe and boot companies in the world today: Vasque.
Fast-forward to today and Vasque produces shoes and boots for a myriad of outdoor recreation disciplines. Amongst these products is the Juxt, a hiking shoe that is lightweight, stylish, durable, and can be used between treks to the local grocery store or while hiking up a Colorado 14er.
The Juxt weighs a scant 1lb 13oz and features an OTG (Off The Grid) outsole that grabs rock or any other type of terrain. I have worn this shoe through just about every type of weather and terrain scenario for over nine months, including an ascent to Chasm Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, and the Juxt is easily my favorite shoe in my closet. It has performed exceptionally well as a light hiker and daily use shoe with a perforated rubber bump stop at the front and adequately crafted insole. I could probably spit out a number of specs on this shoe but the looks speaks for itself.
As mentioned before, the outsole really grabs the terrain you’re ascending and coupled with a secure and smart lacing system, you won’t have to worry about blisters forming from the shoe rubbing as it doesn’t rub. The shoe stays in place and really acts like it’s actually a part of your foot and not just an add-on for it.
If you’re looking for a great, lightweight hiking shoe that you can use in just about any 3-season situation, this is the shoe for you. And at $79.95 retail from various retailers, it’s truly a “bang for the buck!”
