6 Switch sPod for Jeep TJ & JK

November 16, 2010 by JPFreek

Have you ever wondered if there is a way to consolidate all the different switches you have in your Jeep Wrangler for fog lights, lockers, winch, and other accessories? For most of us, the dash panel and steering column can eventually become cluttered with numerous switches that serve different purposes…until now. The crafty designers at 4x4s-pod.com have come up with the perfect solution to a cluttered dash. The answer? The sPod for Jeep Switch system with optional Source Wiring Kit.

Using the empty space between sun visors on the windshield panel, the sPod Switch system can handle ALL of your accessory needs. The quality is beyond OEM with components rated durable enough for aircrafts. Believe me, once installed you’ll think you’re behind the wheel of an F-16 fighter jet rather than a Jeep Wrangler. The switch system we tested was the 6-switch option with Source Wiring Kit for a Jeep TJ, though a version is now available for the Jeep JK Wrangler as well. Not only is the installation easy (the install time was 1.5 hours with simple hand tools and a 1” hole saw and drill), I was left wondering afterward why this isn’t already a factory option for new Wranglers. Hint, hint to the peeps at Mopar.

The system basically works like this: A relay center, called the Source, acts as the mother board for directing the function of various accessories (i.e. fog lights, lockers, winch, etc) to the allocated switch on the sPod unit. So instead of using different switch boards connected to numerous wiring harnesses for powering your vehicle accessories, the sPod and Source consolidate everything into one convenient location easily accessible for use in your vehicle’s cabin. The end result is a functional setup that looks awesome, and the use of LED illuminated V-Series Contura III “SPST” rocker switches provide durable resistance to dust, mud, and anything else you can throw at them. And for those who have an on-board air compressor, the sPod folks have created a switch system that integrates an air pressure gauge for your on-board air. How cool is that?

So what’s the verdict? The sPod is an ingenious product that I would highly recommend. The powdercoating is smooth, the welds are seamless, and coupled with real-world functionality, the sPod Switch system takes the headache away from having switches for various accessories all over the place. If you’ve got switches galore and want a cool looking product that’s worth every penny, contact the folks at 4x4s-pod.com. You’ll be glad you did.
