During the weekend of April 15-17, 2016, 170 Jeeps from 9 states came to the first annual Jeep Blitz in Bushnell, Illinois. The event was organized by Illini Offroad Productions and was unwritten by Steinjäger, Inc. Attendees had a number of fun activities to choose from including a suspension factory tour, riding on a suspension test track, trail rides, a show and shine, and an RTI ramp. There was also a vendor area with vendor booths, a Jeep dealership display, and food.
Highlights of the weekend included the mud pit, the hard luck award for a rock bouncer with a somewhat too hard landing, and a beautiful 90-minute drive along the backroads of the famous Spoon River valley.
Illini Offroad Productions plans on making this an annual event and is already lining up more sites for trail rides and is even talking about workshops for Jeepers new to off-roading. Changes for 2017 also include remote camping, and extending the obstacle course and vendors show into Sunday with an early morning on-site church service.
